In 1954 the Metro Omaha builders Association started as a contest to develop architectural and drafting talent in the metro area and the program has continued through the years to foster that same goal. The programs’ requirements have evolved with the technologies of the times just as the materials and methods the students use for their entries have,
but the goals of the program are still
the same.

Thousands of metro students have competed in the MOBA Architectural Awards program over the past six decades. This competition allows teachers to apply real-world projects into their curriculum. It also allows teachers and students to keep current with what is taking place in the CAD/Design Engineering industry and allows students to be able to evaluate their drafting, design and presentation skills among their peers. Over a quarter of a million dollars has been awarded in scholarships to metro area high school students over the life of the program. These scholarships have helped students obtain advanced college level skills that advance their lives and the metro’s construction industry.

The fact that the program has been supported by Metro Omaha builders Association and now by the Builders Foundation for these past decades is a testament to the dedication that the home building industry of the metro area has for the future of the industry.
